Bimbo Akintola

Veteran Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has claimed that the majority of men cheat in Africa.

Naija News reports that the thespian, during a podcast interview with her colleague, Ayo Adesanyan, said infidelity is so deeply rooted in Nigerian culture that most men cannot escape it.

Bimbo further stated that women should be realistic about relationships and cheating, instead of living in denial.

She said, “The majority of our men cheat. Your father cheated, sir. Sorry, I’m sorry. Your grandfather did. Polygamy, polygamy. Yes, my father has two wives.

“I don’t know where this idea of fidelity came from in Africa. The reality is 90 to 99% of our men cheat, it’s ingrained in them. Some even grew up following their fathers to see girlfriends.

“You leave one man because he cheated, you go to another, the same problem. Jessie cheated on Beyoncé. Did she leave? No. So please, let’s talk about the reality we are facing.”

Meanwhile, Bimbo Akintola, has stated that modern Nollywood is more focused on appearance than passion, unlike when she and her colleagues first started.

Naija News reports that the thespian, during a recent interview with her colleague, Ayo Adesanya, spoke about how the industry has changed over the years.

Bimbo stated that, previously, Nollywood actors were driven purely by passion, rather than money or glamour, citing legends like Joke Silva and Sola Sobowale, who were also passionate about their craft, prioritising the art over comfort.

She recalled how they would work long hours, even overnight, without caring about food or pay, to bring stories to life.

The thespian, however, stated that things are different now, as many actors are more concerned about makeup, outfits, and looks, even going so far as to undergo Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).

Bimbo Akintola added that looks will fade, but true artistry lasts.

Court bars police from arresting OAP Nedu over ‘N83m contract dispute’

The federal high court in Lagos has restrained the inspector-general of police (IGP) and other officers from arresting Nedu Wazobia, the on-air personality.

Deinde Dipeolu, the judge, issued the interim order on Tuesday after considering an ex parte application filed by Nedu and five others who alleged harassment by the police at the instance of their business partners.

The order barred the IGP, the assistant inspector-general at Alagbon, and officers including Ngozi Braide, Stephen Onihane, and Echeng Julius from summoning or interrogating the applicants over a contractual disagreement.

Other applicants in the suit include Sarah Williams-Konha, Avalon Okpe, Ada Okpe, Barbara Okwaranobi and Tokindrumz Pictures and Media Ltd.

Nedu’s legal team argued that the police were being used to intimidate them despite earlier investigations by the X-Squad, which cleared them of criminal liability.

The police legal department had also advised that the issue was civil and should be pursued in court.

The dispute stems from a partnership in 2024 between the applicants and Tolulope Ariyibi-Oke under the Metropolitan School of Business and Management.

The project, an educational fundraising gala with a budget exceeding N83 million, was held in March 2024. However, the respondents later demanded a refund of N60 million, which Nedu’s team rejected.

The case was adjourned until September 29 for mention.

The NGO dispute spilled into the public space after controversial activist VeryDarkMan accused Nedu of fraud in connection with the project.

Nedu, however, denied the claim and issued a cease-and-desist notice demanding a retraction, an apology and a N500m notice of defamation lawsuit.

Oluwatosin Ajibade, the Nigerian singer popularly known as Mr Eazi, has put out a new song titled ‘Casanova’.

The two-minute track, released on Friday, offers a window into the artist’s personal conflicts, weaving a narrative of romantic turmoil and self-reflection.

Rather than a celebration of conquests, ‘Casanova’ presents a candid and conflicted perspective on love, fidelity, and the struggle with one’s own nature.

In the song, Mr Eazi openly admits to a deep attraction to women while simultaneously pleading for understanding from a partner.

He passionately maintains that he is neither fickle-hearted nor greedy but is instead grappling with the complex consequences of his romantic entanglements.

“I no be Casanova/ But I dey like woman too much/ Why you dey tell me it’s over/ When e be only touch I touch/ Truth to God me I’m trying for you/ But it’s so hard to do/ Tiger no fit to change him tattoo/ Just in one day or two/ Me I getti plenty loving wey suppose carry all of you/ I say me I get plenty loving wey suppose carry all of you,” he sings.

Mr Eazi revealed the song was created spontaneously.

“Really had fun making this record with @tmxofficial on the way to Cape Coast Abi Takoradi I don forget,” he wrote on X.

Mr Eazi first rose to international stardom following the breakthrough of his 2015 single ‘Holl Up.’ He is widely credited as the pioneer of Banku Music, a signature fusion sound that blends Ghanaian highlife with Nigerian chord progressions and patterns.

His recent ventures include the formation of ‘Choplife Soundsystem,’ a new pan-African music collective he announced in April 2023.
